Ashley and I took a quick weekend trip to Midland, TX to see our good friend Lexie and to finally meet her partner, Travis. For those who don’t know, Midland is in west Texas and there isn’t much to do. We decided to take a day trip to Carlsbad Caverns just across the boarder in New Mexico. The flight was just about an hour long. It turned out to be a great day. Carlsbad is beautiful and stunning. The caverns are deceivingly big. I had to constantly remind myself I was 700ft underground! Carlsbad is also unique in that it was formed by sulfuric acid eating away the rock (only a handful of caves in the world are like that). Travis is a geologist so it was like having our own tour guide along for the ride. I certainly learned more than I would have otherwise. Ashley and I are slowly eating away at visiting all the U.S. National Parks by the age of 25… only a few left to go!
Thanks Travis & Lexie for the warm hospitality and showing us a great time!
