The TED Presentation About Rich People That TED Doesn’t Want You To See

TED is a fantastic online learning tool with great videos. I visit the site frequently (especially the new TED Ed site). This week, though, TED has come under fire for not posting this video because they deemed it too politically controversial. Bull shit. (excuse my French). Honestly, it peeves me off when companies, who otherwise do great work, are too chicken to let the public see a video because they think it might “hurt” their business. It was the right thing to do to let the public see this video, instead they caused more controversy by not posting it. The world is too political (a blanket statement, forgive me). It seems, at every level, someone is paying someone else creating some type of conflict of interest and the truth never comes out. I would argue politics are great and I am thankful to live in a country where we can have free politics without people getting killed; I would also argue, for a country that prides itself on being the father of modern democracy, our political systems is more corrupt than it ought to be. Super packs, tax breaks, and all the crap that goes on in politics is ridiculous. I, along with the American public, are tired of it.

While I step off my miniature soap box, I recommend watching this video. It has valid points that I have stood behind ever since I took economics in University. The argument that rich people create jobs, is stupid. In no way does that make sense. Tax breaks on the rich is dumb, I don’t care what side of politics you are on. Logically it does not make sense. Oh, wait, my mistake. Logic isn’t part of politics. Silly of me to think that.

Friday Video’s

I watch more video’s than I can count throughout the week. I only post the ones I find compelling or I think my readers will find interesting as well. This week seemed full of great videos and below are two I think are worth watching.

The first is a hilarious bachelor party prank.

Second is a Red Bull video that is incredible. Any Red Bull video is incredible but this is a stunt I desperately want to perform. I can only imagine what it would feel like to be one of those wing suit fliers!

How Do Fiber Optic Systems Work?

Fiber Optic Systems intrigue me. Optics is favorite physics subject and I greatly enjoy the digital world. Another reason I love videography and photography so much. Optics & digital married.

I came across this gentleman’s YouTube account yesterday and found it quite compelling. Engineering in short, informative, educational videos. I recommend watching some of them. I bet you’ll learn something! (The hard drive video & the digital camera video are also neat!)

How Fast Can You Read?

This is an interesting test to see how fast you read. Takes about 3 minutes. At the end it’ll tell you how long it would take to read some classic novels. It would take me 27 hours to read War & Peace by Leo Tolstoy if I didn’t stop reading. In reality it took me about 14 months to finish that book!

As most know from my previous post, Ashley graduated this weekend. It was a wonderful weekend shared with her parents, our great friend Rani, and my family. Could not have asked for a weekend filled with more love for our special lady. She deserves all the praise in the world for achieving such a monumental accomplishment. I am extremely happy for her and proud to call her my girlfriend!
