Glenorchy to Gibbston Valley from Mark Brown on Vimeo.

After exploring Fiordland National Park it was time for Ashley and me to make our way north to Queenstown and Wanaka where we would turn in our campervan. On the way back we took two days to enjoy Glenorchy at the top of Lake Wakaipu. Glenorchy is where a majority of the Lord of the Ring series were filmed. As you can see the winter weather had finally caught up to us and both days were quite cold and rainy. Luckily we didn’t have much planned these days and we were able to relax and enjoy the rain.

After our visit to Glenorchy we drove back through Queenstown to Wanaka. On the way we stopped to try some of Central Otago’s famous Pinot Noir at Gibbston Valley. New Zealand has a lot of famous wine making regions. Central Otago (the 45th parallel region) is known for the Pinot Noir and Gibbston Valley is the oldest in the area. This was a wonderful break from the prior weeks hikes & treks.
