Denver & Parkland Airport Galleries
Day 1
Blessed is the word I would use to describe this weekend. I feel incredibly blessed to be able to do all the wonderful things I get to do. On top of that I have a wonderful girlfriend who has great parents that treat me like part of the family. Thanks to all those who contribute to my blessed life. I try my best not to take any of it for granted.
This weekend Ashley’s dad flew us up to Colorado to spend the weekend with one of his friends on a private airport just north of Denver. It was incredible. The flight was spectacular (even flat farmland is interesting at 10,500 MSL). We also flew directly over downtown Denver which was awfully scenic.
Mike & Charmian were our gracious hosts which whom Pat (Ashley’s Father) knows from Houston. They just finished their home & this was their house warming party. As you can tell from the pictures, the entire airport community (and a few couples from Texas) showed up to celebrate. The food was amazing, the scenery was breathtaking, the flying was exhilarating, and the hospitality was unbeatable.
I even had my own pilot to fly me around at about 70 feet to take photos of the sunset & house. No complaints
. Oh and we had a 15ft. bonfire to top the night off (although we needed about a 30 ft. pole to roast marshmallows!).
Below are the pictures from day 1 (day 2 will be uploaded in a day or two). Enjoy.
PS – if anyone wants copies of the photos please email me at theworldofmarkb@gmail.com or find me on Facebook & message me. I can send a folder with the photos so no one has to save them all individually from here.
Day 2
I have received excellent feedback from yesterday’s gallery. Thanks everyone!
Day two of our trip was great! I woke up to 40 degree weather which always puts a smile on my face. After my morning run we headed to a local place for breakfast. Interesting little diner with huge portions. Food was okay but the company was wonderful.
We went back to the airport to gather our things and get the plane ready to fly home. As soon as we arrived a neighbor was taking off in his yellow T-6. I quickly grabbed my camera and walked to the run way. Since it is a private airport there are no guardrails so I walked right to the edge of the runway. WOW. That is quite an experience being only a few meters away from a loud war bird taking off. My ears were ringing the rest of the morning. Certainly gave me the Goosebumps, but it was AWESOME!
After that we said our goodbyes and headed back to Fort Worth. On the way we had a couple fly with us in their 195. Formation flying with Pikes Peak in the background? Excellent.
Stopped and had lunch in Elk City, OK. Once again, the company way good but the restaurant was interesting. Needless to say, I found America’s obesity problem.
Said goodbye to the couple with us and then headed back to FTW. The whole trip was amazing but one of the coolest parts was once we landed at Spinks. We landed and taxied to the private aviation terminal. When we got out of the plane we had a dude in a golf cart waiting to take our bags and chauffeur us to our car. May seem trivial but it just topped the weekend off!
All in all, fantastic weekend. Thanks to everyone who was involved.
Enjoy the photos.
